Portraits de l'assistance sociale

presented until February 2 2025

Deconstructing preconceived notions

The exhibition NOUS: Portraits de l’assistance sociale invites you to recognise and deconstruct preconceived notions about people on social assistance. Discover their little-known realities, the perceptions Quebecers have of them and the nature of government assistance known as ‘last resort’. The exhibition brings together photographic portraits, personal accounts and the findings of extensive university research. It also presents the history and nature of social assistance programmes in Quebec, while questioning our collective relationship with poverty.

The exhibition NOUS: Portraits de l’assistance sociale is presented by Université TELUQ, the Canada Research Chair in Media Education and Human Rights, the Collectif pour un Québec sans pauvreté and the Commission des droits de la personne et des droits de la jeunesse.

NOTE : This exhibition is presented in French only.
