Would you like to donate a specimen or object?
Please read the information below.
Due to the large number of donation offers we receive, the Museum has had to tighten its acquisition criteria. We now only accept specimens or objects that fall within our collection mandate:
As a natural science museum, the Sherbrooke Museum of Nature and Science will give priority to species that represent the fauna, flora and geology of Quebec, particularly those of the Eastern Townships region.
It will also consider archaeological artefacts from the region as well as instruments and objects directly related to the observation, teaching and research of fauna, flora and geology.
How to donate
To make a donation, please complete the donation offer form. Before completing the form, please ensure that you have all the required information. The offer will only be reviewed if it is complete.
The review of your offer may take a few weeks. A conservation employee may contact you during this period to obtain more information about your donation offer. The conservation department will then make a recommendation to senior management. In some cases, depending on the nature and number of specimens or objects offered, an acquisition committee will be responsible for reviewing the donation offer.
The decision will be communicated to you by email.
If you would like a receipt for tax purposes in exchange for your donation, please indicate the amount requested. It will be reviewed at the same time as the donation offer. For receipts exceeding £1,000, you must submit an appraisal of the fair market value of the item, carried out within the year by a professional appraiser of your choice.
Thank you for your interest in the Museum.
